Private-Airplane Passenger SafetyPrivate-Airplane Passenger Safety: What You Need To Know. As pilots we enjoy sharing our passion for aviation and want to take our friends and family flying. One topic which many times comes up in conversation with our potential passengers is how safe is flying. Well one person who has addressed this issue is John O. Graybill in his book “Private-Airplane Passenger Safety: What You Need To Know”.

Although John has written this book for passengers we can all learn from his advice in this simple to read and informative book. We can help our potential first time flyers by having them read this book along with reading it ourselves. This book can help everyone learn the advantages or private flying, dispel myths about private aviation, and help us as pilots project a positive image as an aviator and upon the aviation community as a whole.

SMAC181 Is My Aircraft Airworthy?

We had a listener write in recently asking if we can discuss how to determine if our aircraft is airworthy, The recent crash in Daytona Beach, FL caused him to think more about determining if an airplane is airworthy from a legal and practical standpoint. He also wanted to know how to determine if the school, club, or FBO you rent from has airworthy airplanes.  All good questions.

ACP183 Should You Become A Military Pilot?

Should You Become A Military Pilot? With the airlines hiring at a rapid rate and a shortage of qualified pilots, many don’t even consider flying for the military. Joining us today is Sarah Fritts who switched from being an officer to a warrant office to fulfill her career flying goal. If you or someone you know is considering a career as a military pilot Sarah has some advice for you.

Announcements:

If your considering a career in aviation we have a few videos you should watch in our free courses section at:

Should You Become A Military Pilot?

  1. The differences to consider between the different aviation branches of service
  2. Why I wish I had flown for the Coast Guard
  3. Why it's better to be a Warrant officer in the Army if you want to fly (and why you just need to do high school to flight school if you want to fly helicopters)
  4. Why I switched from being a Major to a Warrant Officer
  5. Job prospects leaving the military and why you should consider that before you choose a branch
  6. What it's like to fly in the military and how that makes you a better pilot....and a worse pilot (worse because we only tend to fly one airframe and know nothing about Part 121, 135, 133 etc)
  7. Why you should consider location when you choose a branch of the military (ie the south vs the coast, vs ship duty)

Your Passion and Your Career

In this special episode, I want to share some thought about your passion and your career, and some of the lessons I learned from my Dad. Welcome to the inspirational, informational, and transparent aviation careers podcast. I had an amazing flight from San Juan Puerto Rico to Newark, NJ last week.

While over the Atlantic a large rocket flew across the sky, a plume from the rocket exhaust filling the sky. The morning climax was the reentry of the first stage of the rocket lighting up the ocean with a giant orange fireball! Views like this are one of the many perks to this job.
