Welcome to the show about learning to fly, living to fly, and loving to fly. Michael McLellan, Tom Frick, and Carl Valeri volunteered at the Deland Sport Aviation Showcase. The DeLand Showcase is an annual, three-day event focused entirely on recreational flying and sport aviation. Tom and Carl volunteered for Showcase Live for the second and third days while Michael spent the entire event as airshow announcer.

More than one hundred exhibitors will be featuring all kinds of sport aircraft, ultralights, trikes, rotorcraft, powered parachutes and paragliders, engines, avionics, pilot gear, and flight schools.

The crew at Stuck Mic AvCast interviewed some of the vendors for Showcase live and these are the recordings from those live video interviews. Make sure you visit the Facebook and YouTube channel to view all of the video interviews from the crew at Showcase Live brought to you by Dave Shalbetter, Mik Daniels, Elisabeth Daniels, Roy Brewer, Tom Frick, and Carl Valeri. • ATP school has their standard course to get you through with the certifications to be an ATP pilot. However, they also offer an option to get extra Multi-engine ratings and time. Is it worth the extra training costs to do the Multi Add on at $20k?
  • Are there any online schools that are looking for someone with a long experience in the field to serve as an adjunct professor?

ACP247 Aircraft Dispatcher Course at Polk State College

Aircraft Dispatch Course

Aircraft Dispatcher Course at Polk State College - ACP247. Welcome to the inspirational, informational, and transparent aviation careers podcast. If you have questions, comments, inspirational stories, or announcements please write us at feedback@aviationcareerspodcast.com

The Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Program launched in February in direct response to the increasing need for aircraft dispatchers and is the only program of its kind in Florida west of I-95, serving as an attractive opportunity for those interested in the aviation industry due to the accessibility, affordability, and quality of Polk State and its Aerospace Program.

More than 30 employers nationally are actively seeking dispatcher candidates, and with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) projecting airline traffic to double in the next 20 years, employment opportunities will only continue to increase. For the 160,000 airline pilots nationwide in 2017, there were only 21,000 aircraft dispatchers.

Today we are visiting the Polk State College Aerospace to discuss the Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Program. The Aircraft Dispatcher Certification Program at Polk State College provides an accelerated path to a reward aviation career as an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher. The program is FAA-approved and offers all the training needed to prepare students for the required FAA knowledge and practical tests.

This program consists of 200 hours of instruction offered in an intense, accelerated format of daily meetings over as short as a five-week period at the Lakeland-Linder International Airport in Lakeland, Florida.

Students who successfully complete the training program and obtain their FAA Dispatcher Certificate can articulate their certification as college credit in our Professional Pilot and Aerospace Administration degree programs, providing additional value and enhanced career opportunities.

With me today to discuss the Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate Program is Adam Aboueid, Michelle Byroads, and John Ford.

Can I Get Hired

Welcome to the inspirational, informational, and transparent aviation careers podcast. If you have questions, comments, inspirational stories, or announcements please write us at feedback@aviationcareerspodcast.com

I was visiting Rocky Mountain Regional Airport this week and was able to visit two flight schools. During my visit to Western Air Flight Academy, I ran into one of the flight instructors Kyle. Kyle is a listener and also a recipient of one of the scholarships found in our guide which enabled him to move forward with one of his ratings. http://www.westernairflightacademy.com

It was wonderful visiting and speaking directly to one of the listeners. My next visit will be to New Jersey this coming week but I am not sure what airport. I am open to suggestions.

Listener mail:

Listener mail (Russ) - do ICAO equipment codes matter for VFR flight following/radar services?

I’m an active-duty soldier working in Army Aviation and transitioning to civilian life. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a strong interest in flying. I’ve always been drawn to aviation in general. Until recently I had continued to put off my pursuit of aviation for financial reasons or whatever other excuses I had at the time. I enlisted as a rotorcraft mechanic hoping to get at least some form of a fix. It's been great. I wanted more but still had too many excuses.

I was deployed for a while and didn’t have much to do in my off-time other than listen to podcasts or watch movies. So I thought I’d take a look and find all the aviation-related podcasts and at least learn a few things. Needless to say, in my time there I managed to listen to and catch up on nearly every episode of about 35 podcasts. It's amazing how quickly you can get through content when you listen at double speed while working 12-hour shifts. I have more notes written in my notebooks than I know what to do with.

When I returned stateside I got my first class medical and enrolled in a flight training program. I’m also beginning my airframe and power-plant certificate next week as part of my exit program from active duty. I couldn’t be happier. 12 years since my first flight and I’m finally pursuing my goals. 29 feels like a late start, but so long as I can fly you’ll never see me without a smile on my face again.

The scholarship guide, the countless episodes of pointers, the stories from other pilots, advice on ways to accomplish flight training, the different ways to build time, recommended products or strategies, and the encouraging words from all the podcasters out there have been an invaluable resource. I’m still not entirely sure which route I want to take with my career. I have made it my goal to get through all my ratings, and give back to the community at the very least. If I can just influence one person the way all of you influenced me; whatever I do in aviation will be worth it.

Thank you all so much for everything you put into the community. You’ve really lit a fire under me. Keep putting out all that amazing content!
